Self-Employed Associate Piano Teacher

Job Summary

£30 per hour including holiday entitlement.

 

This position is self-employed, hours are by agreement and based during term time, with some holiday teaching by agreement. The individual will be responsible for their own tax and National Insurance.

 

Ellie Jaggers Music Lessons (www.elliejaggersmusic.com) is a small, local studio catering to the demands of the local community in Bedfordshire and the surrounding areas.  The lessons are tailor-made, combining technique and theory with fun games and interactive learning.

 

Personal specification

 

I am searching for an associate piano teacher to teach within the ethos of my expanding music studio. I am looking for an energetic, talented, patient, understanding and dedicated piano teacher to provide group classes and some individual lessons to students of all ages and abilities.  You will be self-motivated, organised and passionate about music making and music teaching. You should be encouraging, positive and dynamic.  A skilled musician and music teacher who can effectively communicate and share their passion with students.

 

You will demonstrate a holistic approach to music teaching.  Sound before symbol approach, introducing notation at a later stage of the beginner process.  Create a positive and relaxed learning environment.  Open-minded to different teaching styles and scenarios and be prepared to adapt teaching to accommodate different learning styles.  Make recommendations about suitable instruments for students.

This position would suit a teacher just starting out in their teaching career, although I welcome applications from people in all stages of their career.  I am searching for someone who will give real commitment to the role and will be a colleague and team member.  Within this role you will have the opportunity to: admin and marketing support, receive ongoing mentoring, teacher training workshops, access to pre-made teaching resources, team socials.

 

Further opportunities are likely to be offered over the following years, as this is a growing music studio.

 

Candidate Requirements

 

The ideal candidate will have:

Minimum of a degree in music

An Enhanced DBS and Public Liability Insurance

Access to a car

Have a minimum of Grade 8 in Piano

Grade 8 in other instruments a bonus

 

Role can be built around the individual, but opportunities could include Group lessons, individual lessons, preschool music lessons, online/travel teaching and peripatetic school based instrumental lessons. 

 

The number of students would build over the course of the year, so I am looking for somebody to take a long-term approach to taking on new students.
